There was a big party at Cherrie Café bar in Kabalagala on Monday night. Jose Chameleone who holds a weekly theme night at the hangout had all reasons to celebrate after the Director Of Public Prosecution announced that the Valu Valu singer had no case to answer in relation to the death of Robert Karamagi who allegedly set himself ablaze at the singer’s home in Seguku late last year. Karamagi later passed on at Mulago Hospital.

Since then, Chameleone has been under fire from the court of public opinion, with many people speculating that the singer had a hand in Karamagi’s death. However, the DPP finally put several allegations to rest when he declared the singer and his wife Daniella Mayanja innocent!

However, the police didn’t take allegations made by Good Lyfe singer Mowzey Radio that one of their officers, who handled the case at Kajjansi Police Station, was being biased because his call back ringtone was Chameleone’s Valu Valu hit. “We want to assure the general public that in Uganda Police we do not favour or fear anyone while carrying out our duties … the Constitution mandates us to serve everybody equally. When Chameleone’s file comes back from the DPP directing that he should be arrested, we shall do that without hesitation,” read a statement from the Police, prior to the DPP’s report clearing Chameleone of any wrong doing.

However, we have learnt that Chameleone and his family had deserted their home in Seguku and shifted to Mbuya, at Chameleone’s father-in-law Father John Scalabrini’s home. A source also revealed that Chameleone transferred several valuables from his home in Seguku in a big lorry to his in-law’s residence. The singer also moved all his cars to a yet to be established destination. “He (Chameleone) had been receiving threats on phone and from boda boda riders whenever he was driving from home. He decided to go away for sometime but he will be back,” the source told us.
