The Music Video: Kasenyanku – Ray

It is one of the hot jams on rotation on most of Luganda FM stations and such a favorite tune for my maid at home!!Is it a good song? Well my three-year-old son, Isaiah, seems to feel it. Every time it comes on radio he blubbers out, “Daddy our song… dance!” However when the radio presenter plays Sizzaman, the poor boy runs towards the curtain crying and saying … “Daddy I don’t like that one …take it off!” So I guess Kasenyanku is a hit … at least according to Isaiah’s standards! But just to set the record straight, the Nigerian duo called Bracket who gave us one of those meaningless songs that Ugandans feel a lot … “Yoli Yoli …you make my heart go yoli yoli,” have a song entitled Me and You that has the same beat as Kasenyanku!

So there you go! Another rip off from a Ugandan artiste. Anyway straight to the video. It has beautiful camera angles and the storyline in so in sync with the lyrics of the song, something that few Ugandan videos do! Here is a quick word to Ray. I am told you are under the mentorship of Silver (oba Slyvia) Kyagulanyi. That dude is quite sane when it comes to understanding basics of music. Please utilise him well because going with the lyrics and approach to the song you kinda have it … I said … kinda! Don’t get excited. Good song. Good video
