Remember Pinocchio? That fictional character and main protagonist of a 1883 children’s novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi? It tells a tale of a wooden puppet that always dreamed of becoming a real boy and has appeared in over million short plays worldwide. Well, it now makes its way to Kampala courtesy of Theatre Factory and the Italian Embassy in Uganda. The Tale of Pinnochio will show at the National Theatre Saturday and later on move in Karamoja starting on Monday.
According to Phillip Luswata, the group’s director, proceeds from the lone show, that will be presided over by the First Lady will be used to help the children of Karamoja. Tickets are selliing like hoty cake. With this kind of endorsement, the production will also help Theatre Factory, which holds the weekly comedy nights at the National Theatre stay in competition.
