The natural thing for many American companies was to lay off staff and try as much as possible to cut costs in order to remain in business.
The trio is watching all this but one of the fired employees in one company is a risk manager and before closing the door behind him, he leaves one of his colleagues a USB drive with a project he had been working on.
He has to be careful with the information on that disk. Incidentally, that night, Peter finishes the project, and discovers that trading will soon exceed the historical volatility levels used by the firm to calculate risk. This will be the longest night these employees will endure.
