This needs you to listen carefully as the diction is fantastic thanks to a good movie script. The setting is also breathtaking and as romantic as romance can be. What with a boat ride, stroll in the park, a love song being played in the most intimate of places! Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy) met one night in Vienna and theirs was a mixture of love and lust at first sight. But they had to separate a while after.
Now nine years later, they meet while Jesse is on his French leg of his book tour. They meet three hours before Jesse’s flight back home. Jesse and Celine try to make the most of their time together for old time’s sake.
They are both in loveless relationships and are clearly still into each other though they have totally different lives that they have built in nine years. There is also child from another partner in the equation. But will they abandon all they have built during the time they were apart or will they pick on from where they stopped when in Vienna?
