South African star Zahara for 10th Blankets & Wine event

How time flies! It is hard to imagine the famous quarterly Blankets and Wine show is already into its 10th edition. And signs are clear it is getting bigger and better. Here is why.
The next show, slated for September 27 at its proverbial home, Uganda Museum Gardens in Kamwokya, is set to be headlined by 23-year-old South African Afro-Soul songstress, Bulelwa Mkutukana, commonly known by her stage name Zahara.
Zahara is one of the most decorated artistes, having bagged eight awards, including Best Female Artiste and Album of the Year at the South African Music Awards.
Her music, which is mostly in her native Zulu and English, has been described as a mixture of styles that have been popularised by Tracy Chapman and India Arie.
Announcing the event earlier this week, Tusker brand manager Phoebe Nakabazzi emphasised that Blankets and Wine remains an experience that continues to showcase outstanding musicians in the emerging genres of afro-based music.
The picnic-style event has in the past attracted rare crowds that are not seen at most outdoor events in town.
Our very own Lilian Mbabazi and the Sundowners Band, A Pass and Solome will share the stage with Zahara.
Entry to the event is 80k and gates will open at 12pm.
