Nigerian singer Banky W for Abryanz awards

Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves for yet another entertainer from Nigeria – Banky W. Yes, another Ciroc brand ambassador is coming to town after D’banj who will be performing at Club Guvnor tonight.
Born Olubankole Wellington, the 31-year-old Banky W is a leading Nigerian RnB artiste.
An engineer by profession, Banky W was born in USA, began singing at a tender age of eight in a church choir. And while in college in USA, he won the Albany Idol competition, which got him into the spotlight back home.
Banky, who owns Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E.) record label was one of the first official ambassadors for Samsung electronics in Nigeria. He is set to be the lead performer at this year’s Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) due on December 12 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Given his extreme attention to fashion and style, the Asfas organisers deserve a pat on the back for choosing him. Whether he is dressing for the red carpet, or his music videos; the West African superstar is always one to look out for.
Although not as famous as the likes of D’banj and Davido in Uganda, Banky is hugely respected in Nigeria and other West African states and several parts of the world.
Some of his songs include Yes/No, Capable, Work You Out, Strong Ting, High Notes and Good Good.
Asfa boss Brian Ahumuza was not willing to reveal how much he had spent on courting Banky for his annual event, instead referred us to Uganda Breweries Ltd, who are the event’s platinum sponsors. For those that are green about Banky’s music, at least we have told you early, so start rehearsing.
