Mase organising kids’ climate conference

So many children will live to remember December 16, 2012. Thousands of kids who had just gone to play at the Green Superstar Kids Xmas party, were able to see and get close to president Yoweri Museveni as he made a surprise stop over at the Kololo airstrip, thanks to Joseph Masembe, the organiser of the Green Superstar Kids Xmas party. In a bid to grow his initiative, Masembe is set to organise the first ever Kids’ Climate Change Conference in Uganda.
Masembe harboured the idea after attending the annual UN Climate Change Conference held in Qatar during the second week of December 2012.

According to Masembe, all is set for the conference that will be held in March at Victoria Hall at the Kampala Serena Hotel. “The conference will run under the theme ‘Our environment is our future and our future is our responsibility; Children take charge.’ The conference will be moderated by child delegates from Washington DC, Boston, Netherlands and the UK,” Masembe told us.

Masembe also added that the conference will attract child delegates from all over the world.
“The Little Green Hands movement is a new form of civic responsibility that seeks to put children at the centre stage to fight for the environment. This conference will not only help children understand the climate more but will also present them with a chance to have a say and be able to conserve the climate.”

All children be ready!
