Madiba’s Bar is the new home of Asylum

After closing their home along Namugongo Road, Asylum Bar & Lounge has resurrected in Kiwatule- another city suburb. Asylum was one of the most lively hangouts outside the city centre. But a few months back, the owners of the hangout closed shop after selling off the facility to the Cyprus Bar and Grill.
But even before the disposing off Namugongo Road facility, the owners had acquired Madiba’s Bar in Kiwatule. Madiba’s was launched in April and it’s fast turning into the destination for young corporates that reside in Kiwatule, Najjera and neighbouring areas. However, they were shocked to see a signage reading Asylum at Madiba’s earlier this week. According to Edward Mutebi, one of the proprietors of Madiba’s, the new name came up as a way of maintaining the Asylum brand.
“Asylum is our trademark; it’s our brand. And besides, our clientele has been pressurising us to use the name at the new facility. I guess they associate with it best,” Mutebi told us.
Mutebi, however, noted that the name Asylum will keep Madiba’s name for the backyard bar section. Singer Apass has been lined up to entertain patrons as they officially welcome Asylum to Kiwatule tomorrow.
