Many a time, certain brands tend to grow beyond individuals. Case in point can be Lido Beach and the late Samson Muwanguzi.
Very many people out there knew Lido Beach, but just a few – and in this case, we mean the likes of promoters, singers, relatives and employees – knew the facility owner.
Some might argue that the late Muwanguzi was not the showy kind or one that loved to publicise his own name, but the business. Well, such an argument holds so much salt.
However, while he managed to elude our pages in his life time, we could not fail to honour the man that put up and managed a facility that has hosted and provided entertainment to several Ugandans and visitors for years.
Muwanguzi surrendered to a long battle with prostate cancer at Nsambya hospital last weekend.
And while he managed to maintain a low profile, he played quite a number of high profile roles in other serious organisations; he served as a board member of Crane Bank and Kampala Parents School.
He was also a nephew to former Ugandan vice president, Dr Samson Kisekka. Muwanguzi was laid to rest at Komamboga Parish, Kawempe Division on Monday.
May his soul rest in peace!
