Step aside critics, Eddie Kenzo is out to prove to you that it’s not how well one sings in English that takes a musician places!
For the past few weeks, Kenzo has enjoyed continental recognition as his Sitya Loss hit kept climbing charts on international music channel Trace’s Africa Hits show.
Kenzo was also among the top 20 Kora artistes in Africa for three consecutive weeks. In week 22, he was number 18 and in week 23, he moved up to number 14, in week 24, he was number 12 and now, a top contender for week 25. KORA Awards Facebook fans do the weekly voting.
And over the weekend, Kenzo was flown to US by new Africa Muzik Magazine Awards (Afrimma) where he performed at the pre awards party.
The Afrimmas are a new awards ceremony that is organised by Africans living in the diaspora and is aimed at rewarding people involved in making African music a success.
A couple of Ugandan entertainers including Bebe Cool, Navio, Radio and Weasel, Nash Wonder, DJ Shiru and Eddie Kenzo were nominated in different categories in the awards.
During the Afrimma pre-party, Kenzo shared the stage with Jamaican dancehall sensation Demarco and Nigeria’s Teddy A.Our sources in the US, tipped us that Kenzo recorded a duet with both Demarco and Teddy A. Kenzo had earlier posted on his Facebook wall indicating that Demarco had gladly accepted to feature on a remix of his Sitya Loss hit. All the best Kenzo.
The Afrimma awards ceremony will be held on July 26, at the Eisemann Centre in Richardson, Texas.
