Kansiime wins twice

Jose Chameleone beat home girl Naava Grey and a list of other musicians including Rihana and D’banj to this year’s best International act at the BEFTA awards. The ceremony was held in UK at the weekend. However, while Chameleone received the news of his win at home, Kabale-born Ann Kansiime had the moment of a lifetime as she picked her award for best comedian at the ceremony in London.

She called friends and family back in Uganda to break the great news, minutes after she had collected her award.

And no sooner had she won this than she received news of another award; Kansiime was named the best actress in the just concluded Lagos International Film Festival (LIFF) in Nigeria.

Kansiime won best actress alongside Sharpe Ssewali who won Best Director for the short film, Is this Love?

Speaking to Sqoop from London, Kansiime told us: “I’m just thankful to God. I am coming back on Monday (November 4) and I will have a party for all my fans and friends at Asylum Bar & Lounge along Namugongo road on Wednesday, November 6. Please come celebrate with me.”
