Jazz maestro Gerald Albright is coming back to Uganda for this year’s annual Nile Gold Jazz Safari, slated for October. Sources close to the Jazz Safari organiser Winston Mayanja, indicate that discussions between the organisers and the artiste were finalised earlier this week.
Gerald Albright is an American jazz saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist.
Albright has sold over one million albums in the US alone. His self-produced music features him on bass guitar, keyboards, flutes, drum programming, and background vocals.
Albright was one of the 10 featured saxophonists who performed at Bill Clinton’s inauguration. He last performed in Uganda at the 2012 Jazz Safari.
Meanwhile, singer Joseph Lewis Thomas a.k.a. Joe, is also set to perform at this year’s Jazz safari. Joe will also be returning to Kampala after he performed at a low-key event some years back. Joe, who is popular even with the younger crowd is expected to attract the young corporates to this year’s Jazz Safari, just like Keith Sweat did last year.
Also on the lineup for the October event is UK Boy group called Tizer as well as celebrated guitarist Norman Brown.
