What does Edcom do?
We are system engineers and web designers. We also do graphics and editing, programming, computer repair and maintenance.

Who are ‘we’?
The company is a team of dedicated and very brilliant young dudes from Makerere University’s ICT department and I’m the director. It’s coming to almost a year since we started. Business is coming along quite well.

What were the capital requirements of starting?
The start was never easy, especially during that period when the university was partially closed. Business expectations were totally different from the reality. The machines we were using at that time were personal computers and they were all not up to standard, affecting clients’ work. Also, marketing the venture dug deep into our upkeep as students, thus we had to struggle surviving for the rest of the semester.

How are you coping now?
We have included computer training to our catalogue of services, we are reaching out to other universities for more jobs. We are also working with certain outlets on Nasser Road to help them meet their high demand for services.
