DJ Shiru to receive lifetime achievers award

DJ Shiru is one of the most celebrated DJs in the Ugandan music industry. This is after spending some time in the industry and he has lived to mentor and inspire young blood such as DJ Roja and Slick-Stuart.

For the past nine editions of the annual Buzz Teeniez Awards, DJ Shiru has consecutively been recognised as Teeniez Wickedest DJ. But this time round, DJ Shiru was not nominated for the category of Teeniez Wickedest DJ, leaving it for DJs Mark, Roja and Slick-Stuart, DJ Ali Brizzy and DJ Nimrod. This however, caused murmurs among some fans who think DJ Shiru cannot miss being on the list of Best DJs.

But as the 10th edition of the awards get a day closer, the organisers of the awards decided that they ought to give DJ Shiru special recognition.
“DJ Shiru will receive the Lifetime Achievers Award as the Buzz Teeniez Awards celebrate 10 years of existence,” one of the organisers of the awards told us. He added that Shiru has for the last 10 years been a darling for most teens, a reason they have voted for him year in year out. The awards will be held at Lugogo UMA Hall tomorrow.
