David Lutalo wins Caller Tunez Award

lutalo

David Lutalo is the winner of the Caller Ring Back Tunez Award for the month of September, having been announced and handed his prize on Tuesday. The crooner, whose star has soared to new heights this year, registers the nod because his song Manya was the most downloaded ringback tune in the just-concluded month of September, with a total of 6,692 downloads.
Lutalo also becomes the second winner of Shs2.5m, joining Rema Namakula who last month won the maiden edition of the monthly gong after her song Mchuzi garnered the most downloads in August.
The Caller Ring Back Tunez Awards is a recent initiative of telecommunication company MTN, a move that seeks to recognise and reward artistes and other content producers on the telecommunication company’s Portal. (The other content producers include those who make recorded quotes, jokes, skits, speeches and other popular sound bytes).
According to MTN Chief Marketing Officer Mapula Bodipe, the awards will also recognise the five artistes with the most downloaded ring-back tune throughout the year, at a grand annual gala to be held every December. She adds that alongside the musicians with the most downloaded ringback tunes, the initiative will also reward Shs100,000 to 10 lucky customers of the thousands who will have downloaded ringback tunes over the last month, as well as a Huwaei Ascend phone to the luckiest customer.
