Jose ChameleoneWith his father standing tall as a star musician in the region and across the continent, Abba Mayanja, son to singer Jose Chameleone stands tall as a star when it comes to swimming at Green Hill Academy. Abba has emerged winner of the school’s swimming competitions almost throughout the whole year. And because of his outstanding performance, Abba was one of the few students that qualified to travel and represent the school at a series of school competitions held in India.

We are yet to know how Abba performed. In the meantime, although Abba traveled to India all by himself, his father was also revealing his own Indian connection. “As we wind up 2013, I am greatly honoured to star in Escape from Uganda, a 2013 Malayalam thriller movie directed by Rajesh Nair,” singer Chameleone posted on his Facebook wall a few days ago.

According to Chameleone, the movie is based on a true life story. “It’s about a family that gets trapped in Uganda when Amin expels the Indians.”
The cast of the upcoming movie includes Rima Kallingal, Vijay Babu, R. Jojo, Tashu Kaushik, Winston Witecker and Mukesh in a cameo appearance.
The story is by Rajesh Nair, Screenplay by Sandeep Robinson, Deepak Prabhakaran and Nithin Bhadran and dialogue by Salin Mankuzy.
Chameleone also revealed that Escape From Uganda was shot completely in the Uganda. “It’s the first Malayalam film to be shot extensively in Africa. From Ugawood to Bollywood,” Chameleone told us. The singer didn’t disclose how much he was paid to feature in the movie, but close allies told us that the singer received $50,000 (about Shs 127m) to star in and also have some of his songs used in the movie.
