Mum Resort: The spot to visit in Iganga

Traditional food is one of the specialities at Mum Resort. PHOTOS BY VERONICA KAGONAWaitresses and good food are some fine details that will inspire you to become a regular at any hang out spot. I was struck by the care the waitresses of this Iganga based resort give. Mum Resort is one place you would love to visit again if the service you receive is professional and as motherly as its name.

You will find Mum Resort in Iganga, CMS village on the Jinja-Iganga highway, 300m off the main road on Bulowoza Road. Whether you’re from that long journey drive from Malaba or a get away from the noisy Kampala, you will find relaxation at Mum Resort’s quiet environment. The place is well known to the community, so it won’t be hard to locate.

Much as it’s on the outskirts of Iganga town, Mum Resort is one impressive spot. Apart from its welcoming waitresses, the resort offers a relaxing atmosphere in its beautiful gardens. And as you enjoy the evening breeze, you could quench your thirst with a soda, freshly squeezed juices, cold beers, whiskeys, and wines from their fully stocked bar as you listen to the resort’s carefully selected music.
Mum Resort also boasts of a sports bar where clients enjoy soccer on large screens as well as the best conference hall in the district.

The food
Local (ala-carte and buffet), Indian, Italian, pork-chops, goat’s meat and grilled chicken are some of the items on the menu to choose from. “We also have the main house delicacy, fish dipped in creamy sauce. This is our special dish that keeps bringing in more people to the resort,” Edith Kawuma, Mum Resort’s manager, says.
The resort also has an option for those who don’t eat meat as there are many vegetarian dishes to choose from.

Steven Mutumba, the proprietor of the resort says their clients range from corporates, tourists, and travellers. And with the new development of Busoga University, their client base has increased thanks to the students and university management that use their facilities.

Other services
Mum Resort also offers health club services like sauna, gym, massage and steam, plus conferencing services and banqueting services.
