Sylvia Namutebi, the reigning Miss Uganda will hand over the crown to a new beauty queen in barely two months. The two-month long campaign to select the next beauty queen will start with four regional auditions where the best ladies from each region will be identified to participate in a national pre-selection contest to identify the top 20 finalists for the pageant.

These will take place in Mbarara for the western region, Jinja for eastern, Gulu for the northern region and Kampala for the central region. The first regional event will take place in Mbarara’s Big Fun Gardens, next Saturday April 14.

The finalists will then go to the Miss Uganda 2012 camp at the Ndere Centre for three weeks ahead of the grand finale scheduled for June 1, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.  At the camp, the girls will be prepared for a life as a beauty queen through holistic training that will include personal grooming, etiquette, skills, public speaking, and talent development among others.

“We intend to host a more superb and glamorous pageant this year and that is why we are doing earlier preparations so that we are not caught off guard,” Kezzi Entertainment Limited’s Brenda Nanyonjo announced during a press conference.

Potential contestants should be between the ages of 18 and 24 years and can acquire registration forms from leading radio stations in every major part of town in the country.
