Fashion Tip: Looking good at the beach

It is a place to chill and let your hair down, but not your sense of style. Here is how to look hot for that beach outing.

It is chameleon weather yes, one minute it’s baking hot, the next its raining or a chill descends. Still we all know that a little cool will not stand between us and the beach. You can go to Entebbe or whatever beach on any weekend of your pick and you will see revellers whether it is shining or not. But the column is not about the weather, it’s on fashion, specifically beach fashion.

Because skimpy is the code, it is easy for people to ditch all rules and wear any old tight thing .But here’s a reminder, just because you will get wet doesn’t mean you forget all fashion sense. The beach is a place as good as any to be stylish and more so you are being judged.Here are a few tips you need to remember on beach style.

Have proper bathing attire if you are going to get into the water: It is only proper that you wear what was made for this function. Besides today’s bathing suits are not only functional, they are also made for aesthetic value so why miss on this opportunity. This means bikinis or one piece swimsuit for women and swimming trunks for men. Get a stylish pair yourself and ditch those unsightly boxer shorts, or hot pants. Basically don’t improvise.

Be stylish in your arrival: Beach clothes start from what you wear before you even make it to the edge of the water. Something casual like shorts for both women and men, or sun dresses and wrap around skirts for girls. Something you can drop easily and put back on just as easy is the best beach look. Avoid dressing up like you are headed for a formal dinner. Basically let your hair down, but not your style so remember to look your best.

Mind the shoes: Have you watched someone try to walk in heels on sand. Then you know it is comic and unless you have aspirations in that field, you best pick a sensible pair. Sandals ormoccasins are here so you do not have to wear your regular shoes to the beach.

Bring your accessories: Yes the beach especially on a sunny day, is accessories heaven. While you go easy on the clothing, you can pile on the accessories. At the beach you can wear a hat, earrings(just remember to take them off before you get into the water ), carry a beach bag, bangles, necklaces, a pair of sunglasses and you still haven’t reached overkill.
