Patricia Ssewungu’s ‘piece of cake’ launched

We all go through experiences but share them with friends. Many times you will be cautious who you share your stories with. Author Patricia Ssewungu has chosen to share hers with the world.
On Wednesday evening, she hosted friends, family and public to the launch of her book titled A Piece of Cake, a biography about her life story and experiences she has gone through.

When she left Masaka, she envisioned she would get a better life, with better opportunities. And whereas the capital city had its good side, it was hard finding her feet in London. Along the way, she loses her savings and at one point ponders committing suicide. The title takes relevance from her search for greener pastures.

Her book is absorbing because it is told in first person so it is believable given the experiences she points too, which some of her friends can attest to. You can relate to some of her stories given the common stereotypes using in reference to women. She lights hope that despite all the challenges and misty dreams, there is a lot to appreciate in life too.

Anyway, the launch was held at Kampala Serena Hotel where her friends from United Kingdom turned up in big numbers to support her. Many bought the book and she was available to autograph it and pose for photographs with buyers.
As she did so soulful vocalist Jackie Akello complimented the moment with a band. There was an open bar from which revellers got served both soft and hard drinks by waiters and waitress.
Speaking about her book, Ssewungu thanked everyone who has spared time to attend the launch and asked people to read and appreciate her book.
