Ne-Yo coming to Kampala


Renowned American R&B singer, Shaffer Chimere Smith, commonly known by his stage name, Ne-Yo, is coming to Kampala for a concert. The concert dubbed Pop n’ Jam concert with Ne-Yo is scheduled to take place at the Lugogo Cricket Oval on October 30th this year.

The news was announced in a press conference which was held at Sheraton Hotel’s Equator bar on Tuesday. According to Mrs. Grace Nshemeire Gwaku, the marketing director, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), this will be the first of its kind in the pearl of Africa, as there will not be any tickets to be sold for the concert. “To guarantee yourself a seat at the concert, all you have to do is to buy a bottle of bell lager, check under the crown for a code and then text this code to 8464. It’s that simple and after sending that SMS, you will receive a feedback message for every entry you make,” Nshemeire added. There will be lots of other prizes to be won in the draws that will be conducted to include headphones and power banks among others.



This promotion which is only open to those above 18 years will be running till October when the big star is expected in the country and lucky winners to the concert will be announced in the media. Talent Africa’s CEO, Ali Alibhai  whose role in the event as booking agent also assured the public that Ne-Yo will indeed be on Ugandan soil on the 30th of October while Sheraton Kampala Hotel’s Mrs. Jenifer  Musiime, also excitedly added that the hotel will be offering the star and his team accommodation during his stay in the country.

Shaffer Chimere Smith, aka Ne-Yo, is a celebrated American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer and actor. He has three Grammy awards to his name and has been nominated over 50 times in different international awards like MTV video music awards, MOBO awards, Soul Train musical awards and BET awards. He first shot the lime lite with his Album, “In my own words,” famous for tracks like; so sick, when you are mad and sexy love which became favorites to all music lovers across the globe and has since never looked back.


He will be in the country to debut his latest Album, Non-Fiction 2015, which comes sixth after his other Album, R.E.D in2012. Non-Fiction has already reached number five on the US Billboard200, and it sold over 59,000 copies in just days of its release.
