The track : BODY GUARD– SIZZAMAN & EMRON

Sizzaman has a lot going for him that should make him an undisputed Ragga star. He has got that loud-mouthed hype that musicians who end up in this genre usually have, where they shout endlessly about nothing and everything in undecipherable gibberish. He sounds the part.

But something just has not worked out with Sizzaman. All that Caribbean swag comes to nothing. It could partly be because he is rarely original in his tracks. Fine, it is a Ragga tradition to replicate riddims (beats) used on other songs, but you just cannot hold your own after you follow that path.

So chances are, every time you hear a Sizzaman song, your mind wanders off first, to where you could have heard the song, and that does not do a lot of good for his songs. So yes, Body Guard, with a fine danceable beat, is pulled back down from the heights of greatness by a failed synchronisation between the beats and lyrics. But it should get you dancing.
Emron, does not fair so badly, but well, maybe singing in Kiswahili is just not his thing.

And oh, we cannot miss the fact that this here is Sizzaman featuring on a gospel song. Not like it will mean anything to his lifestyle of course, but at least, it is good to know he has a soft spot for God after all.
