The music video: Okikola Otya – Joel Kisakye

video

There is always a silent revolution that occurs in every musician. Many times, that revolution results in an evolution, a transformation from one person to another. Such has been the case for Joel Kisakye. In Okikola Otya video, he registers a complete turn from the timid person he was in his first video of ‘love enkubye.’ He uses this new video to send out a message to his loyal fans. It’s a message with the words; ‘look I changed, look I can take control.’
So when this video starts, we see a Kisakye who is ready to take charge. Not to say that he rids himself of the shy boy looks, but he leverages them to bring out a unique style. With headsets plugged in his ears, he approaches this girl seated in a park, busy reading a book. It all seems so natural, he respects what they call the private space, leaves a gap between him and the girl. Then the girl starts sending the subtle signals of ‘guy better approach.’ A wink at him, another wink back to her book and as they say, the rest is history.
We are then treated to this well-choreographed dance with Kisakye as the lead dancer. He’s donning white pants and a shirt matched with a red blazer and dark shades. All this combined with a white background and one needn’t ask for more. For a guy who couldn’t move a leg, to see him pull off those strokes is a super makeover.
The video keeps the viewer glued as it changes location from a park to a lakeside. At the lakeside, the sentiments of young romance are evoked. We have hearts being drawn in the sand, then hearts being made out of matchboxes and rainbow colors to complement the scene. It’s a sedative video for those deeply fresh in love.
