The music video : JENNIFER – BOBI WINE

Bobi

Bobi

He calls himself the Ghetto President and whenever his ‘his people’ are affected or afflicted, Bobi Wine will come out to musically raise his voice for the sake of getting the attention of the powers that be.

Back in 2007 when the Queen of England was coming to town for the Common Wealth Heads of Government Meeting (Chogm) and the common man was displaced in the clean-up and reorganisation of the city, he came out to protest this in a song he titled Ghetto. Recently the changes taking place in the city thanks to effort by the Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority, Jennifer Musisi-Semakula, have raised debate as some people argue she doesn’t take people’s welfare into concern.

And Bobi Wine is again at it, with another song out, titled Jennifer. The video depicts KCCA employees harassing vendors who are chased off the city streets when they try to sell their goods.

In one scene, there is an elderly woman who earns a living by selling foodstuffs like maize, by the roadside being raided by the KCCA people.

Of course it is video meant to appeal to your emotions and little wonder you’ll find many business operators in town playing the song repeatedly. The scenes in the music video were shot in different parts of town, on the streets and in the slums, which Bobi Wine uses to make his case for Musisi to have mercy on these ‘common people’ as he refers to them.
It was shot mainly in Kamwokya, Kalerwe, Mulago and Nsooba. The video was shot by Hakim Katongole of Kim XP.
