the music video: equation – desire luzinda

What comes to your mind when you read “Ogopa video”? Of course, top notch quality. However, don’t be mistaken, Desire’s Equation audio may over-promise but the video certainly under-delivers.  The lackluster point in this video is the guy over whom Desire is drooling, he’s too artificial. Every move he pulls comes off with a lot of plastic execution, one can tell that he’s over-relying on the video director for each instruction and this kills the video.
Secondly, I don’t get some of the costumes. I expected them to go Caribbean since they chose a lake view as the location, but they don’t. Instead, we have the guy draped in a tight body-hugging yellow T-shirt all looking very uncomfortable, while Desire with her Brazilian weave and red-rags spends all her time struggling with high heels. Something bohemian in style would have suited Desire, and the guy would have gone shirtless to complement this look. However, as with all over-rushed videos, they never impress, and they always call for a redo, which is what Equation music video deserves.
Speaking of the things Equation got right, the location is certainly one that matches the calming aspect of this song. This resort, with the lake breeze, portrays the song’s feelings. You will equally love the video when you see the very artistic background over which Desire pulls off her back-in-time weekender moves.
We must give Equation the thumbs-up for the image quality, high definition, devoid of shadows and close-up shots of the characters. The video tries its best to tell an iconic story of Desire enthused by love. The perfect colour correction also complements some of the raw footage.
