The music video :Conductor – Dj Rachael & Pryce LTon

Conductor was shot partly at Namboole Stadium and at Kyambogo University. Dj Rachael Kungu, who happens to be Uganda’s pioneer female disc jockey premiered the video on Friday 5 at Gatto Matto, Bugoloobi.

This music video is woven around comedy. It starts off with a lady on the heavy side flagging down a taxi and a conductor signalling her to enter as fast as possible. The facial expressions of the conductor are worth watching—pure clowning at work.  For starters, Dolibondo was the conductor and we all know that he stammers. So imagine a stammering conductor.
Kyambogo University students must question Dj Rachael as to why she used their campus and sign-post to stress a point of non-payment of taxi-fares by students.
It is one video that brings the whole Ugandan taxi culture into one place. Talk of the fights, the arguments and the dozing passengers.

The camera movement is fair to the viewer. The visuals run smoothly and in parallel with the song. I liked the close-up shots of the characters especially Dolibondo’s mouth as he argues with the passengers. The images are cut to the key rhythm. The visuals change well from chorus to verse.
However, on the bad side, the video though shot in high definition, fails to work very well on its colour and lighting. At some points, the video gets blurred while at other points, too much light is radiated, which kills the visuals.
The beginning part of the video may make one think it’s a Nigerian movie of sorts. Perhaps it’s the sounds that evoke this feeling.
The storyline portrayed the conductor with mastery. It makes it a must watch video for those who don’t know what it means to use a taxi. It is the conductor and passengers drama.
