The music video : BLEST – BENEZERI FT. ESSIE

BENEZERI

BENEZERI

To those for whom the name Benezeri is strange, well it’s that Mass Communication student at UCU, and a son to Justice Mike Chibita and Dr Monica Chibita. One thing that will impress you about this gospel music video is that, it keeps everything simple yet not amateurish.
Directed by Josh W.Timothy, the video takes off with happy faces and Benezeri on point with his attire (kitenge of sorts).

The colour and lighting was well-maintained despite the fact that the video was shot at night. The effort every character brings to this video is commendable; everyone is all smiles and full of energy.  And unlike most Ugandan music videos, you don’t see Benezeri and Essie trying to pull off those “I am in the spirit” faces. They are “blessed” and they prove that with all simplicity.  And ohh, I had forgotten to praise the afro-hairstyles showcased by these fun-loving youngsters –  young and free.

On the technical aspects, the syncing between the audio and the visuals is creditable. The edits and the close-up shots will have you entertained and it’s definitely one video that will get you energised on any day especially a Sunday morning.
However, I noted a few flaws, like the black dresses for costumes since the video was shot at night. It kills the blessed concept. The location required diversity, there should have been an interchange between day and night or between different places.  The story-line is not that deep, basically it’s untapped for this video.
