The last Taken movie did not excite as much as the first one. Mainly because it seemed to be the same plot –Bryan Mills (Neeson) doing everything he can, including and not limited to killing anyone who got in his way, to get back a loved one that was taken by some shady Albanians. The only difference was that it was his ex-wife Lenore (Janssen) not Kim (Grace), his daughter as was the case in the first movie.
Neeson seemed to have also had enough of Taken since he was quoted saying a third movie would not happen. However, the movie must have earned a lot of money since the production company asked for more. Again, Neeson seems to have read our minds about the monotonous plot since he agreed to do the movie as long as no one gets taken. Thankfully, Neeson is the kind of actor who has done such great work that he can influence a plot.
In Taken 3, Lenore is murdered and Mills is framed for her murder. Of course Mills does not take this sitting down, especially since his relationship with Lenore had greatly improved. You would think that he would be trying to get evidence to prove his innocence. But that’s not his style. While every authority from the CIA to the police tries to get their hands on him, he is on a revenge mission against whoever killed Lenore.
The plot may seem familiar but we get to see a less violent Mills in this installment. However, that does not take away any of its excitement. Of course, what this means is that anyone who liked the previous Taken movie for all its violence, might find it mind-numbing. But for anyone who likes to see what the director can do with a different scenario and new cast members, it’s entertaining.
