Fast and Furious 7 or Furious 7 as it has been released in some countries, is one of those movies which no matter what critiques or reviews say, people will still line up to watch. A franchise does not reach its seventh installment without forming a loyal fan base. That is just what Fast and Furious has done since 2001.
Over the years, the franchise has grown from illegal Street racing to incorporate elaborate heist. In the last installment, Dom (Diesel) and his crew had defeated Owen Shaw and were celebrating the fact they could now live normal lives. Then there was the cliffhanger set in Tokyo where someone hit Han (Sung Kang)’s car, blowing it up. That someone turned out to be Jason Statham, who called Dom and said, “You don’t know me. You’re about to”.
In Fast And Furious 7, these words haunt Dom and his crew, especially when Statham’s character turns out to be Deckard Shaw –Owen Shaw’s brother. It goes without saying that he is looking to avenge his brother’s death. Enter the big guns and fast cars.
As already mentioned, this movie already has a following, especially because of Paul Walker who died in 2013. People are going to want to see him in the last movie he did before his death and also see how the directors used his brothers to fill out the parts which hadn’t been shot yet. That’s not to say that the movie has nothing else to it. It’s loaded with cars, hot enough to melt any race car junkie’s heart, action sequences that get the adrenaline pumping and music any hip hop lover would appreciate.
On the negative side, even some loyal fans feel the franchise has been dragged on long enough. One fan commented, “Whatever happened to the days when they were just simple stylish movies about people street racing cars? Not all this flying out the back of an air craft, grappling hooking, espionage mickey mouse stuff?” Despite such comments, several people are looking forward to the movie.
