A group of youths in Kampala’s Makindye Division on Saturday turned rowdy after promises of cash handouts from Presidential advisor Catherine Kusasira did not materialise.
The residents of Church Zone Makindye Divison converged at St Agnes Church where Kusasira was expected to be the chief guest at a function they expected to receive cash handouts. The over 180 locals who had waited patiently later turned rowdy after receiving news that Kusasira would not attend the meeting because she was not aware of the meeting.
A one Luwaga had reportedly organized the meeting.
“Which means they are playing on our mind. They lied to us and we are not happy. Why did they register us yet they were not going to give us money!” one of the youths said.
However, Kusasira has distanced herself from the organisers of the meeting saying they are conmen who only used her name to defraud the youths.
“What I can say for now is that I don’t know the person who has been mobilising the people. I have never seen him before,” she said before adding that she believes there are some people who are trying to tarnish her name.
