Hundreds of revellers Friday night filled Freedom City to witness Jon Blaq’s performance at a maiden concert. The show proved that the singer who’s been in the industry for just two years is shooting for the stars.
This was climaxed by a successful maiden concert Friday night. Ever since Blaq came to the music scene two years ago with Sweet Love, a song he did with Vinka, the singer has never looked back. He has had hit songs like Makanika, Tukwatagane, Do Dat, Program, Tonvaako and Ebyalagirwa among others. Besides hit songs, he has been booked to perform at gigs in and out of Kampala and few of them have seen him fly to foreign countries.
Unlike Fik Fameica who had a good two years but failed to fill Kyadondo Rugby Grounds when he announced the concert, Blaq was lucky that his music was not only loved but also had loyal fans who would pay to attend his concert.
His Aya Bas concert at Freedom city last Friday night had curtain-raisers like Karole Kasita, Aziz Azion, Jowy Landa, Pallaso, Eddy Kenzo, Tip Swizzy, VIP Jemo and Weasel among others. For the fact that Blaq doesn’t have many songs, he showed up on stage at exactly midnight which was a bit late. Some people left the venue after he did only three songs.
He showed up in a black Convertible car that drove him up to close to the stage. Together with his dancers, they kicked off the performance with the song Do Dat followed by his other songs and all these took him 45 minutes and the show closed. The singer will perform tonight in Jinja at TransAfrica before heading to Mbarara where he’s expected to perform at Agip Motel.
