Police, pornography committee quiz ebonies actress over explicit photos

Sulayina Nangendo alias Princess Becky Jjuuko

Sulayina Nangendo alias Princess Becky Jjuuko, a popular actress with the Ebonies has appeared before police detectives and Pornography Control Committee over her leaked nudes.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said Nangendo has recorded a statement and would be charged with publishing pornography material under the Anti-pornography law.  Trouble for Nangendo started last week after nude pictures circulated on social media. The pornography law provides a maximum sentence of 10 years and or payment of 10 million Shillings upon conviction.

But Dr. Annette Kezaabu Kasimbazi, the Pornography Control Committee –PCC chairperson, says when they were alerted about the porn materials circulating on social media, they sought audience with Nangendo to establish whether she intentionally released the material or someone else did it.   According to Kezaabu, they don’t intend to press charges against the artist since she is remorseful.

Kezaabu says they will instead try to rehabilitate the actress, saying the committee doesn’t want to see women being objectified; saying most of the leaked nudes are for women. Speaking to URN this afternoon, the remorseful Nangendo admitted having taken the nude photos but was betrayed by her ex-lover who she says is outside the country.

She explained that she felt embarrassed seeing her naked photos circulate to the public through social media.  Nangendo advises young girls to think before they do anything. She regrets that this was done out of excitement and never thought it would end up in public.
