Pr Augustine Yiga of Revival Christian Church in Kawala has been dragged to Police over rape allegations.

The controversial pastor appeared before the Executions Division of court on accusation that he had refused raped to pay monthly maintenance fee of Shs150,000 to a woman he allegedly raped and fathered a child with as she had gone to be prayed for.

The woman who hails from Bushenyi District says that she was raped when she was 15 years of age after someone convinced her to go to Pr Yiga’s church and be prayed for.

“I entered a private room for prayers after paying Shs100,000 and he told me he would pray for me at night. At around 2am he came into the room and begun using me with force. I tried to fight but there was no one to help,” she said, adding that: “I went to South Sudan with my pregnancy when I was not aware that I was pregnant. My kid is now 5 years but whenever I call him he blasts me.”

She says that when she heard that he was coming back from South Africa, she travelled from Bushenyi to Kawempe to get help.
She says that she has raised her child as a single parent but the child was born with no private parts and had some back problems. “I took the child to some churches and they prayed and the private parts are now in place. The child is now going to school. I will bring the child tomorrow,” the woman says.

Although Pr Yiga denied ever meeting the woman, he agreed to a DNA test and says that he will support the child should the it turn out positive.

The alleged victim says that she took long to report the case because she was afraid of the shame it would bring unto her and her child. She, however, says that she has spoken out because there are many like her who are suffering in silence because they have no means.
