KENYA. A 32-year-old man has been arrested in Murang’a for allegedly raping and sodomizing his 70-year old mother.
The man from Kandegenya village of Mugoiri location, Kahuro Sub-county is said to commit the beastly act to the granny on July 25 at their home where they lived alone.
He threatened to kill her if she disclosed the information to anyone.
But on July 31, family members met for a family gathering at a certain hotel in Thika and noted that their mother had difficulties while walking and pressed her to explain to them what was wrong.
“We then took her to Thika Level Five Hospital where we confirmed that she had been raped and sodomized and she had a discharge an indication that she had been infected with Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STIs),” a family member who sought anonymity said.
It was then that the granny revealed to her other children that the son instructed her to burn the mattress and the blanket after the act adding that this was not the first time the man raped and sodomized her.
The suspect who has been dodging the police officers was then arrested on Thursday after the residents notified the police. He was taken to Kahuro police station.
Murang’a County Commander Mohamed Farah confirmed the incident saying they have initiated a probe into the matter saying they shall take the suspect to court once they are through with investigations.
“The suspect has been arrested and is in our custody we have started investigating the matter and once we are through we will know the charges that we will prefer to him,” he told the Nairobi News on phone.
But a source within the police said that the suspect may be charged with incest and committing unnatural act with his mother.
The suspect is a bachelor and has been living with his mother in the same compound after his brothers and sisters moved to Nairobi in search of greener pastures.
