Police in Kampala have arrested renowned activist Dr Stella Nyanzi for parking and locking herself inside her car at the entrance of the Police headquarters in Naguru.
According to Sarah Eperu, the spokesperson Forum for Democratic Change, Nyanzi and other women had gone to meet the Assistant Inspector General of Police, but were denied entry into the premises.
“When Nyanzi refused to vacate the place, police arrested and towed her car,” she said.
Nyanzi is detained at Jinja Road Police station in Kampala.
The Kampala East Metropolitan Police Commander Michael Sabila Musani led her arrest.
Last week, Nyanzi and her group staged a protest at the same place, after the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola declined to meet them.
They seek to petition the police over the rampant kidnap and murder of women and children.
