It takes a special kind of mind to live a life of presence, singing about the crazy things you want to do with an imaginary lover, yet your own relationship is in shambles. A litany of Facebook posts come to mind. You have to pity the man, though. Domestic violence is a no-go area in a marriage. Believe me, when your own wife points it out, it has nothing to do with the world throwing stones at you. Although, many have been collecting stones for years, waiting for the right moment. According to documents presented before the Nakawa Magistrates Court on April 18, 2017, Daniella Atim claims that since 2013, her husband Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleone, has been battering her every time he binge drinks. Often, the hapless woman has to seek refuge in her friends’ homes. Meaning, there are actually witnesses to these accusations of assault. Never mind that she says he beats and abuses her in front of the children. And her souvenirs? Wounds and scars on her face, plus insomnia. Her fear is that the husband may kill her in one of his more violent moods, so she cannot sleep a wink. The couple has been together for nine years and she is seeking an annulment of their marriage.
Of course, Chameleone denied the accusations with Facebook posts and live feeds, telling the world that those who are writing about his wife filing for divorce do not want to see triumph and as a family, they do not solve their issues in public. Dude, your wife dragged us into your mess when she sued you. And she does look forlorn and wistful in those live feeds. Also, when had we last seen the singer posting photos together with his wife? When had he ever done a live feed with her? Hmmm! This is not the first time this celebrity marriage has been on the rocks. In 2011, the singer converted to Islam for a few days, a thing that did not go down well with his very Catholic wife. She threatened to end their marriage and just like that, Gaddaffi changed back to Joseph.

There was a rumour about Nutty Neithan hooking up with Fille after her breakup with MC Kats. The rumour is said to have started after their collaboration on the song What Did You Do. In December 2016, Nutty’s baby mama, Joy Tumusiime aka Empress, vehemently denied the rumours after a WhatsApp message circulated detailing the rumoured relationship and her response. In the message, Empress tells a friend that Nutty apologised for his behaviour and she forgave him. She added that there is no relationship where people don’t cheat. What matters is that at the end of the day the couple gets back together. And that is how Nathan Wamawungo got off the hook. Now we wait for wedding bells.

When these two split up in February 2009, we got the best of the bargain. Agenze and Bamugambe were some of what came out of Bebe Cool. Was he making lemonade out of lemons? Was it a publicity stunt? Or was it just a blessing in disguise? Because mehn did these songs work for Bebe. Some called them lamentations, because Bobi Wine took advantage and released a caustic Wesotinge, publically castigating Bebe for washing his linen in public. Zuena Kirema had left their marriage and returned to her parents’ home in Jinja, accusing her husband of cheating. She made use of the sabbatical to start a music career but after one terrible song, Boda Boda, she could not go on. Six months later, after a successful Agenze album launch, Mrs Ssali was back to her marital home and the couple is now counting 14 years of marriage.

This is probably band music’s celebrity couple. In 2010, a third person visibly crowded their rocky relationship. Nice Yesigye was so ‘nice’ that it is rumoured the crooner immortalised her in his Nice and Lovely hit. They even had a baby girl together, although Yesigye accused Lutaaya of neglecting her. Love conquers all, right? Well, Namatovu introduced her man to her parents a few months after Yesigye decided to give a local daily her story. Namatovu said she would not believe her husband cheated on her, and even if he did, don’t all men cheat? Lutaaya conceded that his cheating could have been out of curiosity and excitement. Lutaaya and Namatovu made up and had a huge village wedding in 2014. And just when you thought this was poor Yesigye’s cue to move on, babe still insists she is number two.

They tied the knot in 2012 and then, after a domestic spat slightly over a year into their marriage, they split up. The man is rumoured to be some sort of bad boy so fingers were pointed at his evil ways. The break up was so bad that the news anchor ditched her ring as well as her husband’s name – as observed during the 9pm bulletin. In the course of their split, the woman was then rumoured to be seeing one of her workmates, and then a Russian man – tabloid trash! But being the private couple that the both are, not much did we get from the horse’s mouth. All we shall continue to assume is that the couple sorted themselves out and that the baby boy Karungi had sometime last year is indeed Mr Musisi’s, as he claims.

There All is not well that does not end well. Not when people say you snatched your brother’s girlfriend. Yes, Samira was the late AK47’s girlfriend before she hooked up with Weasel. And for these two, it was trouble in paradise, with both often accusing each other of cheating. Never mind that they have a child together. We then heard that to cool the fire, they both began to openly move out with different people. Wow! Around October 2016, Samira decided to leave the Goodlyfe’s Neverland house in Makindye where she lived with Weasel to rent an apartment in Buziga. Her excuse: Seeking privacy because the Goodlyfe boys were hosts to endless visitors. Now what we hear is that Douglas Sseguya has to hop between Makindye and Buziga. We hope they will give us a wedding someday.

He has many children from different women; she only has one with him. That, in itself, is a recipe for disaster, especially when your woman has fire in her. In October last year, Kats was beaten and almost run over by his fiancée Fille’s car. There are rumours that the fight began with both accusing each other of infidelity. As Kats walked away from the fight, he murmured something about a cancelled concert. Little did he know that he was joking with a scorned woman who has a car. The result was a beleaguered-looking Kats, with a bit of blood running down his nose and some fresh wounds on his face. Maybe it was love that held Edwin Katamba back. Maybe he knew something about Teka sente w’olaba, because despite personally posting photos of his wounds, he slogged on as her manager. It was the missus that fired him, claiming that he was running her social media platforms illegally.
Some people said the whole thing was a publicity stunt to draw attention to Fille’s then upcoming concert. In December 2016, the couple seemed in love like never before. They had kissed and made up.
