Yes. We were also surprised when we heard. That said, there is no denying that Iryn Namubiru is a talented singer. She started her music career in the mid-2000s during the time the Ugandan entertainment industry was budding and her contribution inspired many that look up to her now.
Her journey was destined to be a smooth ride and indeed it was as she won awards, topped charts and was considered a music icon. But in in 2012, the artiste disappeared from the scene and before we knew it, she was convicted in China for allegedly exporting drugs. We thought that was the end of the once best Ugandan artiste.
Luck was on her side after some months when the charges were dropped but her career had deteriorated because companies and events promoters didn’t want to associate with her regardless of a few new tracks.
Well the artiste has decided to remind Ugandans of how talented she is by holding her first concert in years, this Friday at Kampala Serena Hotel.
Dubbed “One Night Only”, the concert is going to be Iryn’s comeback and it’s expected to attract a huge number of music lovers from all generations basing on an awesome performance she put up at the last edition of Bayimba festival.
Expected to support Iryn are all those artistes she has collabos with like Bebe Cool, Maro and Gravity Omutujju among others.
The Bell Lager sponsored show will go for Shs100,000 regular, and VIP Shs1,000,000 and VVIP Shs3,000,000 for a table.
