The ex-factor, Ferrari and question of Shs3billion at Mbuga’s wedding

sk7
By now you have seen and heard what went down at SK Mbuga and Vivienne’s wedding. There were other things we noticed though that happened that we thought we should let you know about.
The ex-factor
When Leila Kayondo showed up on NTV’s The Beat show, she said on air that she will be among the artistes to perform at SK Mbuga’s wedding which was by that time a month away. Everyone was left wondering how someone can perform at their ex’s wedding.

sk6
However, Mbuga who had an interview with Sqoop stated that Leila was just talking and it wasn’t true because the organising team hadn’t lined her up and there was no way they would get her to perform at his wedding.
He was right. Last Saturday, when Mbuga wedded Vivienne Birungi (Jalia Birungi), the list of artistes that performed included Winnie Nwagi, Irene Namatovu and Bebe Cool. Leila didn’t appear anywhere. And that evening, Leila posted a photo on her instagram page. She was in Boston somewhere backstage ready to hit the stage for a performance. Could it be that it was stunt or a move to go somewhere very far from her past?

Shs3billion? We doubt
Anyways moving forward, the Mbugas had their wedding on Saturday. It started in the morning where they went to Kibuli Mosque for what is referred to as Nikka where Sheikh Muzaata officiated the wedding.

sk5
They later descended on Kampala Serena Hotel for their reception. The initial plan was that the reception would take place in Victoria Hall, which is the biggest hall at Serena but because of the overwhelming number of guests that were invited, the wedding happened at Serena Hotel gardens.

Mbuga said the wedding would cost Shs3 billion; Perhaps SK Mbuga said that just to show off. We at Sqoop are wondering where the rest of the money is. At the beginning of last week, Mbuga held weeklong events which included a kasiki and the kwanjula after party which took place on Thursday at Liquid Silk. Shs3billion was so much money that if used, it would have made everyone who went to the parties drink from day one to the last day without closing the bar even during day time.

sk3
We are therefore wondering where the Shs 3billion was spent because on Monday last week, there was no open bar throughout the night as everyone had to dig deep into their pockets to get drinks. The second day which was Mbuga’s kasiki had an open bar start later in the night when many people were exhausted and had started leaving. The open bar had a twist to it though; unlike others where all drinks are free to whoever who goes to the counter, the one Mbuga announced involved getting a drink coupon from Sylvia Owori who was gave out strictly one coupon, most of which were water coupons.

sk2
The kwanjula after party was also short on drinks as it was by coupon although that day the food was also on the house. Shs3billion? We doubt.
Giving out a car – again

sk1
The Ferrari, according to SK Mbuga is his favourite because it is the only one in Uganda – mbu. At the kwanjula, Mbuga gave out the Ferrari to his wife Birungi and it left many wondering if he would not take it back – given a certain experience some months ago. A brand new Benz was also given to Sam Mukasa, King Saha’s manager and Vivienne’s big brother.
Besides that, the wedding was lavish as the bride and groom were dressed to kill as they were seen changing outfits during different sessions.
We have not yet confirmed where the newlyweds have gone for honeymoon but when we find out, we will let you know.
