This movie is set in the earlier days of kickboxing when taking part in the sport made you instantly famous. It is an interesting movie. It is a story of two brothers, Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg) and his older brother Dicky Eklund (Christian Bale). Micky the armature boxer is a darling and Dicky the pro is a jerk. Micky’s journey to the top is slowed down by his brother who is supposed to train him but never keeps time, affecting Micky’s training.
Micky is forced to find another trainer but when he gets to the ring, it is the things he learnt from Dicky that save him from losing the games. He ends up in a situation where he has to choose between family and his career. In an action-packed way, The Fighter teaches lessons about hard work, family, love and drugs. And the fact that it is based on a true story makes it worth paying a lot of attention to.
