Juliet Tumwesigye Karungi died on Friday

Juliet Tumwesigye Karungi, an accountant with Cosek Uganda and a city socialite, who died on Friday night, was buried yesterday at her ancestral home in Ibanda.

Tumwesigye, who hails from Ibanda District but was well known in Kampala circles, died in a nasty accident along Martin Road in Old Kampala after a boda-boda she was travelling on reportedly collided with a tricycle.

She sustained grave injuries and was rushed to Case Clinic by Good Samaritans, where it is said, she later died due to excessive loss of blood. The rider who was carrying the deceased, it is said, is in critical condition at Mulago Hospital.

Prior to her death, Tumwesigye was a very sociable person who often partied at Kampala night clubs and usually left aboard a boda-boda to return to her city residence in Old Kampala.

Unfortunately, Tumwesigye was unable to make it home on the fateful night.
Born and raised by a single mother, Tumwesigye has been described by many as a friendly and jolly girl who has gone too soon.

Commonly known to her pals as Julie Muffn, she will also be remembered by her friends as both brilliant and fun-loving.

“She was quite carefree, selfless and lived her life to the fullest,” noted Brenda Tushabe, one of her close friends.

She loved and knew how to use social media really well and Tushabe says that she and the internet were inseparable. She loved dancing, was a very humorous person and above all, God-fearing. She went to Buganda Road Primary school, Mary Hill High School Mbarara for O and A-Level.

She later joined Makerere University where she graduated with Bachelors of Commerce. Tumwesigye died at the age of 25, Tushabe said.

“I am heart broken, we were chatting in the morning, this is too soon please wake up from your sleep,” Shan Kukunda, another friend said when asked about Tumwesigye.

“We shall dearly miss your humour and warm heart, you have lived your life Julie,” Tumwesigye’s other pal Natasha Charlotte Irrigoga said.

The friends say Tumwesigye also loved attending social events and adventure. She lived with her mother and has two young sisters.
