Bobi and Bebe release beef songs ahead of musical battle

Bobi and Bebe

Bobi and Bebe

Beef fanatics, step forward for service … mind you it’s not meat! Yes, it’s Bobi Wine answering Bebe Cool’s song Film Star with his own tune titled By Far, and you know what that means – lyrical slime, slur and all sorts of verbal nasties – so make sure you first take your children to bed before hitting the play button.

By Far follows two ultimatums from the Ghetto President demanding that Big Size withdraws his song Film Star from the public lest he (Bobi) retaliates. Bebe last week released Film Star also known as Ndiisa Buuti, in which he relates his life to a movie where he is the star and says  a movie always with the gangster dying while the film star moves on.

To many music lovers, the lyrics were a direct attack to Bobi who sometime last year added the title of Omubanda Wa’kabaka (King’s Gangster) to his several ranks and Bobi was not about to take this lying down.

Through his facebook page, Bobi wrote, “So the brother tested the rocket launcher, I hear mu film Omubanda afa (In a film, the gangster dies), well then, I need just 24 hours to give a detailed retaliation. Maaso ku lutimbe (Eyes on the screen).”

Bebe declined to apologise saying he has never seen a parent apologise to a “spoilt” child.
And inevitably Bobi has come with lyrics like, “Big size you tell big lies; I live a dream, you just fantasise. Open your eyes better realise, don’t see me rise and just criticise. You talk about daddy’s money, bad Bobi Wine talks about Bobi’s money; you better wake up from your dream…” The tune sounds good (especially if you’re not Bebe).

These two have a musical showdown in what has been dubbed Battle of the Champions concert as they go head-to-head at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds on May 4.
